Znojmo boost their offensive
hicago Blackhawks´ forward Bryan Bickell joins the Czech side on a one-month contract with a possible extension. The 26-year old forward was part of the Blackhawks squad which won Stanley Cup in 2010.

„We have had a certain pool of players to look at. We could have possibly signed a top-star like Vincent Lecavalier for a few games and led negotiations with some of our sponsors, but we did not get far enough and decided to follow a more sensible financial path and make a longer-term decision that is sustainable and affordable for the club,“ says Znojmo head coach Martin Stloukal.

Bryan Bickell grew up in Ontario and joined Ottawa 67´s in OHL during his junior years. He was drafted by Chicago Blackhawks in the second round of 2004 NHL entry draft and after impressing at Chicago´s AHL farm at Rockford, Bickell joined the NHL squad in 2009/10 season, helping Blackhawks on their way to winning Stanley Cup. „Bryan is a typical NHL player, quick and agressive. We believe he will boost the team´s quality in offense and be a presence in front of the net,“ describes Stloukal. „In case the lock-out ends, he can return to US, but there is also a possibility of extending the current one-month contract.

Crowder failed to make the team
As Bickell joins the team, another Canadian player is about to leave. Forward Paul Crowder parts ways with Znojmo in his try-out period after playing six games with just one assist on the scoresheet. „Paul has not met our expectations and we decided it would be best to end his spell with the club,“ explains Martin Stloukal. Orli Znojmo would like to thank Paul for his efforts and wish him all the best for the future.
